traditional chinese medicineTraditional Chinese medicine is a more complex health practices and ancient. It is a system that covers everything and at least in theory includes all aspects of human existence. Its principles were developed in the field of Taoist religion from 1000 BC approx.

The major divisions include acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary interventions, exercise systems such as tai chi and feng shui. Basically all these specialties are based on the same principles.

Basically, the existence of chi, life energy, which flows smoothly in a healthy condition within the body. Chi is vital energy that exists in all things, the energy that gives life, energy, causing everything. Any accumulation, stagnation or deterioration of the current chi causes health problems. Also influenced by external chi and how it circulates through our body.

Another concept is common in all branches of TCM is that of yin yang represents opposing energies coexist in perfect harmony. All energies have their polar opposite. Light and dark, silence, sound, heat and cold. In its ideal state the ying yang is perfectly balanced but internal or external factors can cause imbalance which then leads to the disease. The Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment involves identifying the factors that are disturbed and re-establish harmony.

In a healthy body is perfectly balanced ying yang and chi flows freely.

In addition to the yin and yang, there are five elements or phases that must be in harmony to enjoy good health are: wood, metal, water, earth and fire. Each of these elements has its own characteristics and are related to certain internal organs as well as certain personality traits.
