St. Peter's Episcopal Church
We welcome all visitors and newcomers to our church. The "Episcopal Church" is one of the world-wide Anglican Communion numbering 60 million members in over 100 countries. Its a Protestant church focusing on the basic authority of Holy Scripture and the proclamation of the Word of God. The basic beliefs are expressed in the Book of Common Prayer.
We are a part of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. The mission statement of the Diocese is to be the Body of Christ, transforming the world through the ministry of all the baptized persons by proclamation, worship, reconciliation and service in faithful response to the call of God in Jesus Christ.
St. Peter's Parish was established in 1792, but its roots reach back to another century through such parent institutions as All Saints' Parish of Frederick. The first recorded meeting of the vestry was 1799. In 1846, the present church was built, and in 1850 consecrated.
Today, St. Peter's stands ready to minister to a growing community through our programs in worship, education, outreach, and fellowship.
